Best UK Music festivals

The UK is renowned for its vibrant music festival scene, offering an eclectic mix of genres, stunning locations, and unparalleled live performances. With a plethora of options to choose from, music enthusiasts often find themselves spoiled for choice. But which festival reigns supreme? Let's uncover the highs, lows, and best festival experiences the UK offers!

At number one, there's no surprise; it's the jewel in the crown of world festivals, never mind UK festivals!

*Glastonbury Festival *
Glastonbury stands as the epitome of the UK festival experience. With its iconic Pyramid Stage and a lineup that spans across genres, it consistently delivers unforgettable moments. The sprawling Worthy Farm transforms into a kaleidoscopic celebration of music,

arts, and culture. In recent years, the festival has played host to legends such as Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Lizzo, Arctic Monkeys, Guns N' Roses, and Elton John. A particularly poignant moment in recent years was when Paul McCartney brought Dave Grohl on stage to perform with him—Dave's first performance since the death of Taylor Hawkins.

Special moments like this make Glastonbury the best festival in the world!
This year's festival takes place from 26th to 30th June; if you weren't lucky enough to bag a ticket by now, you're probably not going! The tickets are like gold dust!

*Reading and Leeds Festivals*
Known for their diverse lineups, Reading and Leeds Festivals cater to a broad spectrum of music lovers.

From rock and indie to electronic and hip-hop, these twin festivals provide an energetic atmosphere that keeps the crowds returning for more. We expect the double duo to roll out big names this year, from Fred Again, Blink 182, and Lana Del Ray to Gerry Cinnamon and the iconic Liam Gallagher.

*Latitude*
Latitude combines music with a touch of the arts, creating a unique and enriching festival

experience. Set against the picturesque Henham Park backdrop, this festival seamlessly integrates music, literature, comedy, and theatre. Latitude will take place in Henham Park, Suffolk, from 25th to 28th July and is set to feature Duran Duran, Kasabian, Keane, London Grammar, and the fabulous Nile Rodgers & Chic.

*Download Festival*

For rock and metal enthusiasts, the Download Festival is a pilgrimage. With its heavy-hitting lineup and the iconic Donnington Park as its stage, it offers an intense and exhilarating experience. The festival is committed to its hefty roots, and there is no better crowd than the metal crowd! This year's festival takes place from 14th – 16th June and will feature Queens of the Stone Age, Fall

Out Boy, Avenged Sevenfold, not to mention Royal Blood, Corey Taylor, Sum 41 and Pantera, who will make the first UK appearance in 20 years!

*Isle of Wight Festival*
Typically the precursor to Glastonbury, the Isle of Wight Festival has a rich history dating back to the '60s. Its scenic location and diverse lineup that spans generations make it a top choice for music lovers.

The festival's laid-back yet vibrant atmosphere makes it one of the nation's favourites. This year's festival takes place from 20th – 23rd June and is popular; early bird tickets are already sold out! It's no surprise, considering that The Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys and Green Day have all been announced as headline acts.

*Creamfields*

Drawing crowds of 70,000 festival goers, Cheshire's Creamfields is the UK's premier electronic dance music (EDM) festival. With its stellar lineup of top-tier DJs and an electrifying atmosphere, it caters to dance music enthusiasts. The consistent delivery of high-energy performances has made this festival a firm favourite for the ravers.

Last year's event attracted big-name DJs Armin Van Buuren, Peggy Gou, Bryan Kearney, David Guetta, Eats Everything, and Deborah De Luca, to name but a few. This year will be more of the same as the festival has just unveiled APEX, a colossal 30,000-capacity indoor main stage, making it the biggest indoor festival superstructure in the world!

*Wireless Festival*

The Finsbury Park Wireless Festival is a contemporary urban and electronic music hub. Its urban setting and lineup that reflect the latest trends in the music industry make it a go-to for those seeking a modern festival experience. In previous years, acts such as New Order, The Strokes, Daft Punk, Morrissey, Kanye West and LCD Soundsystem have entertained the London crowd.

This year, the festival takes place from 12th – 14th July, but the lineup has not been announced.

*Boomtown Fair*
Boomtown Fair is not just a festival; it's a fully immersive experience. Its intricate set designs, diverse spaces, and a lineup that spans genres from reggae to techno provide a carnival-like atmosphere. This year's 'Revolution of Imagination' will take place from 7th – 11th

August in Hampshire, featuring 12 main stages, 50 hidden venues, thousands of performers and one secret lineup. The mystery makes it even more spectacular.

*Tramlines*
The Sheffield festival has been steadily growing in popularity since its launch in 2009, and last year attracted la crème de la crème of music talent, including the super cool Richard Ashcroft, The Courteeners, and legends

Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott.
This year's lineup has yet to be announced, but we eagerly await it.

*Belsonic!*
How could we not mention Belfast's own music festival, 'Belsonic'? In the heart of the city, Belsonic has been attracting some of the biggest bands and musicians to Northern Ireland, and 2024 is no different. This year, the festival has announced acts such as Limp Bizkit, Sting

(with Blondie in support), Becky Hill, Take That, Olly Murs and Scooter, to name but a few. Yes, it's diverse – but it's a festival with something for everyone. The only thing that's missing are the tents!
Sadly, Belsonic lacks that authentic festival experience as it does not offer camping. Pah, mud is for mugs anyway!

The UK's music festival landscape is a dynamic sound, culture, and

community tapestry. Whether you're drawn to the iconic Glastonbury, the super-charged, head-banging vibes of Download, or the immersive experience of Boomtown Fair, there's a festival for every musical taste!
Remember that these ratings are subjective, as each festival caters to different tastes and preferences. The key is to explore, embrace the diversity, and revel in the magic each festival

brings to the musical stage.
